Gamestec, the UK’s largest operator of gaming machine in pubs in the UK, together with TabBOXX LLC, helped The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation celebrate their 20th Anniversary by donating £27,000, raised through their new pull-tab lottery product TabBOXX, at the Charity’s American-themed Summer Ball.
The event was held at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool to recognise 20 years of work by the charity researching the causes of lung cancer and early diagnosis of the disease, providing sufferers and their families with support and campaigning to reduce levels of smoking.
The money was raised by pub goers across the UK between May and July who played Gamestec’s TabBOXX lottery. Twenty per cent of ticket sales are donated to The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and players have the chance of winning up to £1,000.
Gamestec and TabBOXX LLC are proud to support The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, the UK’s only charity wholly dedicated to fighting the disease and it is especially fitting that TabBOXX is a perfect replacement for cigarette machines.
Peter Davies, Business Development Director at Gamestec, said: “It was great being part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations – the Foundation has done an incredible amount of work to be proud of since it was founded by Professor Donnelly in 1990.”
It was a few years later when the much loved TV presenter Roy Castle was diagnosed with lung cancer and after personally leading a huge charity campaign his name was adopted by the Foundation after his personal battle against lung cancer sadly came to an end.
Peter Davies continued “As TabBOXX continues to be rolled out to pubs across the UK we look forward to raising even more money to help the Foundation fight against lung cancer – which is the biggest cancer killer in the world. Feedback from licensees and pub customers has been really positive about the charitable aspect of TabBOXX – people are really keen to get behind the Foundation’s work.”
Mathew Boyle, Director of Fundraising for The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, said: “We are really pleased to receive this donation of £27,000 from TabBOXX, it is a fantastic amount of money to have been raised over two months. All the money we receive through TabBOXX goes directly to helping us fund research programmes, support patients with lung cancer and run awareness and prevention campaigns”.
TabBOXX has been launched by Gamestec, the UK’s leading gaming machine operator in conjunction with TabBOOX LLC and International Gamco of the US.
It has already been rolled out to over 200 sites across the UK with more sites coming on board daily and is not only raising funds for The Roy Castle Lung Foundation, but also helping licensees earn valuable additional income with some sites taking as much as £80 per day.
